Hi all! I’m so excited to announce that I’m now on the Happy Little Stampers Watercolour challenge design team! Most of you already know that I love using watercolours to colour my cards, so being on this team is just amazing for me! I am also very lucky to be able to design among such talented watercolourist in this team.

The Ton Fresh cut poppies products

The challenge each month is “Anything Goes”, using watercolour of course, with an optional twist, and the twist for April is “Bright”. I’m making watercolour coasters at the moment so I’m sharing one I made for this challenge using the beautiful poppies from The Ton. I painted clear gesso over the thick paper pulp coaster before doing a no-line water-colouring on it and then sprayed it with transparent gloss varnish once it dried so that it would be water resistant and keep its colour.

I hope I’ve inspired you to create something with your stamps using watercolours too and I look forward to seeing them in the challenge gallery at Happy Little Stampers! Have a great start to the week!

Creative with Stamps – Flag

Cards, Creative With Stamps, Patty's Creations, Zig clean color real brush

CWS#28_Flag

Hello all and its already the 1st of July, well into the 2nd half of the year already! Where does the time go by? Its also the beginning of a new challenge at Creative with Stamps and the theme for this month is “Flag”. We have prizes from our sponsor Pattie’s Creations so we hope you will join us and we can admire your amazing creations in the link up!

Flag zigs

As you are reading this, I am somewhere in France, on our way to Madrid, where we will be spending all summer to visit my hubby’s family. I brought my Mac, my watercolours, colour pencils & all my Never been used stamps, so that I won’t have a choice but to use them!

Anyhoo, for this post, I created it in advance, using a digital stamp from Pattie’s Creations called “Beach Cabana Trio”. I know being July and the theme being “Flag”, most Americans will create something to celebrate their Independence Day , which did you know was actually voted by Congress on the 2nd of July…. But since I’m not American and I don’t live in America & don’t come from or lived in countries who’s citizens are very patriotic (I think France & Germany only sing their National Anthems during football matches, so quite alot at the moment, although not so much for Germany anymore ;)…) I decided to use a beach flag!

Flag cu

I printed the digi stamp directly onto Clairefontaine 250gm watercolour paper & created a beach scene with my Zig clean color real brushes. I had so much fun giving the Cabanas a badly painted look, even though one small part of me was screaming in protest when I made the paints run down the roofs, LoL! I also wanted them to look old but the Zigs are so vibrant it was quite difficult.

I chose the sentiment from The Ton’s “Wishful Wildflowers” set as I felt there was something poignant but happy at the same time about this scene. How does this card make you feel?

Thanks for stopping by and I do hope you’ll stop over at Creative with Stamps and see what my team mates have created for your inspiration and leave them a little love too. Happy Summer everyone! (& Winter for those down South)

Two with One

Card Challenge, Cards, Spectrum noir, The Ton stamps, Winsor and Newton watercolors

I made these two cards with one stamp set to play along at Twofer Card challenge. This challenge is fun as you have to think of two different ways to use the same stamp set. For today’s card, I used the Fresh Cut Poppies from The Ton as I wanted to play along at their March Spring challenge too.

For my first card, I tried some water-colouring as I’ve been continuing with my watercolour lessons with Jenna Rainey’s book “Everyday Watercolor”. The book is supposed to teach you to watercolour in 30 days but as I’m not disciplined enough to watercolour everyday, its taking me 6 months! LoL! If you want to see my latest progress click here.

I’m sorry I don’t have a process of my painting but my video set up is still not in place in my new craft room. I hope my written explanations will be enough. I started by stamping the poppies with Momento’s Rose Bud ink and the leaves with Versafine’s Spanish Moss ink. I gave a very light wash of a mixture of Winsor and Newton’s Opera Rose & Scarlet Lake on each petal. I then added a darker version in the places I wanted to add shade. While waiting for it to dry I painted the leaves with a mixture of Sap Green and Vandyke Brown. The middle leaves also had some lemon yellow added to the mixture.

Once the poppies were dry, I accentuated the lines which are already on the stamp, with my Prismacolor pencils. I gave a yellowy wash behind the flowers and splattered some paint once this was dry. The sentiment was stamped with Versafine black ink and I matted this panel, cut with Stamplorations Crazy double running stitched rectangle die, onto a pink card base.

Since my first card was quite long to make, I decided to create a very simple CAS card for my 2nd card. I wanted to join in the fun at AAA Cards challenge which asked us to use only 1/3 of the card. So I masked the bottom 3rd of the card with a large post it and just stamped my poppies and leaves over it. The colouring of the leaves was done very simply with my Spectrum Noir sparkle brush pens and Zig clean color real brushes.

See how it sparkles! I added 2 lines with my Zigs for some detail. For the wavy sentiment, I just twisted it a little before stamping it with Versafine again. I was finished until I remembered that we were supposed to make 2 completely different themes as well for each card so I added the Birthday… Oh well, I hope its different enough!

Wishing you Love and Laughter

Cards, The Sisterhood of Crafters, The Ton stamps, Watercolor

Happy Valentine’s Day to those who didn’t read my first post! Wishing you love and laughter today and everyday for the rest of 2018! For my 2nd post, I’m sharing a card I made for our challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters where the theme is “A Banner Year” so join us with any card that features banners, pennants, flags…

The Ton wildflowers main

To make this card, I first stamped the banner from The Ton’s “Basic Banners” stamp set, and then stamped it again on a large post it note and ran it through my Brother’s scan and cut to have a mask. I placed the mask over the stamped banner and then stamped the flowers from Wishful Wildflowers from The Ton again, with Versamark and heat embossed it with Wow’s white embossing powder.

In the banner I wanted a custom sentiment for a New year’s card, so I got my daughter to write in it for me, as she’s so good in hand lettering! Here she couldn’t really show off her talent as the space was so narrow so I’m sharing one of her other letterings.

ines hand lettering

This is something I’m always telling her so it must have stuck!

The Ton wildflowers cu

The flowers were painted with Winsor and Newton paints by first adding water using a watercolor brush and then dropped in a splotch of paint, which just spread out where there was water. To finish I added paint drops on random parts of the card. I couldn’t film it as my video set up is not ready yet in my new craft room but I’m sharing a video of the same process to show you how easy it is to do this type of water colouring!

Well, thanks for dropping by and I hope you liked all I shared. Do pop over to see my team mates wonderful cards over at The Sisterhood of Crafters and join in the fun! Have a great day full of Love and Laughter!

Getting my Mojo back

Cards, Spectrum noir, The Ton stamps, Zig clean color real brush

After 2 months of just dealing with only our house move, you would think that I couldn’t wait to get back to crafting. And although I missed it terribly, I just couldn’t seem to get down and start creating again. All the cards posted during the month of January were done before Christmas, so in reality I had only made 1 card in January!! What happened to my creative mojo? Well, for one, as my craft room was the last to be unpacked, I still had 10 boxes piled up in it, so getting to my craft table alone was like gong through an obstacle course, and I cannot craft in a mess!

And appetite comes with eating, as we/they say in French and the opposite applies too. The less I did, the less I felt like doing. Luckily or unluckily, you decide later, we might take on a student boarder and if she stays, she will have my craft room and I will haul all my stuff up to our spare bedroom. Why would I do such a crazy thing, to give up my large bright craft room and move all my stuff again??? Well I want a cleaning lady and with what the boarder will be paying, I can get one guilt free! ;))) So I had to clean up all the boxes in my craft room, as she was coming to stay for afew days to try out the school…and I wasn’t about to put a beautiful Italian 16 yr old in our spare room beside our bedroom, even if I trust my hubby 100% I’m not stupid!

feathered heart main

So once the craft room was clean, I felt like crafting again and decided just to sit down one day and start making a  card and this popped out! I was heavily influenced and inspired by TaeEun’s DT card for the February challenge and Effie’s use of feathers on her gorgeous cards!

To make the card, I first diecut a heart mask using Xcut’s layered hearts and then laid this mask over my card, taping it down with washi tapes. I used afew flowers & leaves from The Ton’s Fresh Cut Anemones set and stamped in the outline with Distress inks. I took my Spectrum Noir sparkly markers and coloured in the flowers, and used my Zig clean color real brush to colour in the rest.

feathered heart cu

I stamped in the German sentiment, which means “Thanks Alot, as this card is for a new neighbour who gave us a pot of flowers to welcome us to the neighbourhood, with Versafine black ink, but I should have cleaned the stamp first as its full of fibers from the wet wipes I used to wipe it and it transferred to my card… Once it was dry I stamped in the hummingbird from Stamplorations and covered it with feathers. To finish I added Nuvo drops, but as I’m new to them I still  haven’t really gotten the hang of how to make nice round flat dots!

Well I hope you liked my card, I’m going to start making a series of Happy New Year cards now although I’m very very late but better late than never right? And the people receiving it will now have more time to read it too!

Thanks for dropping by and I always enjoy your comments!
