Let It Shine!

Cards, Stamplorations, WoW embossing powder, Zig clean color real brush

After breaking open my new “Glow in the Dark” WoW embossing powder yesterday for my galaxy card here, I couldn’t stop playing with it and decided to see if I could fill a whole card with the fluorescent look! To go one step further, I wanted the card to be fluorescent during the day as well!

Stained glass main.jpg

So how did I achieve this? I used my new fluo Zig clean color real brushes! They come in 4 colours, green, pink, orange and yellow and when I got them, I found them really cool as the colours are really bright…and fluo! But I didn’t really know what to do with them until I saw an ad for this bag that lights up and I decided to try and reproduce the design on my card!

Stained glass cu

I so happen to have a stencil from Stamplorations, appropriately called “Stained Glass”, which matched the design on the bag. I placed the stencil over my card base and started colouring it in with my Zig fluo pens. With the stencil still in place, I pressed my Versamark clear ink firmly onto the stencil, making sure it went into all the triangles. I removed the stencil & poured the “Glow in the Dark” Wow embossing powder onto the whole card, removing any stray powders with a brush when needed, before pouring the excess back in to the container.

I then heated the whole card with my heat gun until the powders melted. I cut out the “Amazing” diecut using Stamploration cutplorations die and adhered it onto my card using Uhu glue stick. This coloured panel was then adhered onto a black card base and the card was done. Really easy but has an amazing effect don’t you think?

Well I hope you liked my card. Let me know if you have tried out either the glow in the dark powders or Zig fluos as I would love to come and see how you incorporated them onto your card.

Thanks for stopping by and your comments really do light up my day!

Peace Love and… Yoga

Cards, Ink Blending, Penny Black Stamps

Since I started yoga a few years back with a beautiful, wonderful and kind Slovenian friend of mine, Nina, I’ve become much stronger and fitter than I ever was (not counting my school years…) Because of it, even at age 52, I’m now able to do TRX classes and I just started spinning classes too! So if you have back, knee, hips, neck… problems like me :), try a little yoga and who knows, you might just be doing triathlons soon! But make sure you do it under a good instructor, as bad posture in yoga can be hurtful too. Here’s a pic of another friend and I doing some yoga poses with Lola, my Jack Russel, who’s doing the I want to play too pose!

yoga pose.jpg

So when I saw that Penny Black had some yoga stamps, I just had to get them, and I got to use them straight away for a birthday card of a yoga buddy! The set is called “Love and Yoga” and its really appropriate for anyone who loves yoga…and cake, as it has a few stamps with a yogi posing in different positions with cakes or balloons attached or balanced on her!

Yoga cupcake pose cu

I used the image with the balancing cupcakes which I coloured with my new Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol markers and then fussy cut it. Did you notice I tried to give her abs? 😉  It wasn’t easy to colour in such a small space so I kinda deformed her face too! LoL! For the background, I wanted to try and create a part of the lake where we hang out all summer, so I used my distress inks and the Radiating Rays from My Favorite Things. I would normally turn to my watercolours to do something like this, but ever since I did the class at Altenew called “Easy ink blending techniques”, I’m no longer afraid to bring out my inks!

Yoga cupcake pose

To get the dual colour, I first sponged in Spiced Marmalade through the stencil, turned it until it covered the yellow rays, and then sponged in Salty Ocean. Make sure you clean your stencil before you add the second colour, if not it’ll take the colour you sponged in before too and you will not get the colour you were aiming for! (Guess how I found that out…) I created the rocks and earth with Victorian Velvet and Altenew’s Dark Chocolate. The sea was sponged in with Altenew Ocean Waves .

As I was in a rush and had to give her the card in the next minutes, I couldn’t do more than quickly stamp the sentiment with Momento ink and cut it with my Dahle 550 paper cutter.

Well I hope you liked my post and I wish you a really great day!

Namaste.

The Sisterhood of Crafters – Leaves

Cards, Stamplorations, The Sisterhood of Crafters, Watercolor

sisterhood

I’m back again today with another card challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters and I’m really excited, as this will be the first time that I am hosting a challenge! I chose the theme of “Leaves” as Spring is finally here, and all those little shoots are appearing on trees and bushes. So I look forward to seeing your projects with leaves on them.

Leaves main

Over here in the south of Germany , we went straight into summer with temperatures ranging between 25 to 30 deg C! I’ve been busy planting flowers in my new garden as ever since I started making cards and painting, I’ve fallen in love with flowers. So I bought hydrangeas, peonies, roses and tons of lavender and I’ve been busy planting them in our new garden!

leaves stencil

I made this card with a stencil from Stamplorations called Botanical Lush. I first taped Clairefontaine mixed media 280gm paper down on my work space, with painters tape, and then taped the stencil on top of it. I used a light wash of Opera rose watercolour paint over all the flowers and a light wash of Winsor green on the leaves and removed the stencil.

I then went over the flowers and leaves again with darker colour paints for the highlights and left it to dry. Once dry,  i cut the sentiment using Stamplorations cutplorations die and gave it a light pink wash before adhering back onto the card but layering it so it would stand out. I then matted it on a red card base.

Leaves cu

Well I hope you liked my card and that you’ll go over to The Sisterhood of Crafters and see all the other leafy cards my team mates have made just to inspire you to join this challenge!

You have until the 6th of May to link up your creations and I’ll be picking a winner on the 8th of May. Looking forward to seeing your cards in the link up!

Have a great day!

The Sisterhood of Crafters – Bunny

Card Challenge, Cards, The Sisterhood of Crafters

sisterhood

I’m back again today to share a new challenge we have over at The Sisterhood of Crafter’s challenge blog and this fortnight’s theme, as chosen by our Sistah Vicky, is “Bunny”.

Bunny

I only have one bunny stamp set so I have used it for all my Easter cards this year, which probably makes it my most used stamp set so far! I do love this set from Gerda Steiner though, they are just so adorable! To make this card, I first coloured a yellow card base using Kaisercraft’s Mandala stencil with Distress Oxide inks. I then cut out two “windows” with My Favorite Things “Stitched Arch Stax” dienamics. I coloured in the clouds on a white card stock with a cloud mask I drew and cut myself using Broken China distress oxide ink and adhered it under the windows.

Bunny cu

The bunnies were stamped & coloured with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers before I fussy cut it and glued onto the cloud card base. The sentiment from the same “Hoppiness” stamp set was stamped using Versafine Onxy Black ink.

Well I hoped you liked my card, let me know in the comments, its always a joy to hear from you! I do hope you’ll hop over The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog and leave my “sistahs” some love too and I look forward to seeing your cards in the gallery there.

Have a great day!
