Colours of 2020

Cards, Spectrum noir

Hi all, I’m here today to share two cards I made using trending colour combinations of 2020. This will be a series I hope to continue throughout 2020, so if you don’t want to miss out, do subscribe to my blog!Spring garden embossing prod wmFor these two cards, I used the Spring Garden embossing folder and sentiment stamps and dies from Crafters Companion and ink pads by Spectrum Noir. If you would like to see a step by step tutorial on how I made these cards, please go on to the Spectrum Noir Facebook community photo album page here.

To get these colour combinations on my cards, I was sooo inspired by this article from Canva called “10 trending Color combination of 2020”. I love all the colours which are supposed to be trending this year (that teal!!!) so I pinned this article onto my bookmarks bar and I will be referring to it quite often when I make my cards!

Well I hope you liked my cards, what do you think of the colours? Which is your favourite card?

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day doing something you love!

Autumn is here

Addicted to Stamps and More, Cards, Clean and Simple cards, Watercolor

Addicted to stampsHi all! Its Wednesday, so another challenge starts over at Addicted to Stamps and More and the theme for this month is CAS -clean and simple, meaning lots of empty space on your card!Watercolor resist prod wmI decided to go for an Autumn themed card as I just love the colours of the falling gold and yellow leaves everywhere. I used the stamp from Crafter’s Companion and did a watercolour resist with my Spectrum Noir water-reactive inks, on part of the stamped image. Which means I first heat embossed the stamped images and then watercoloured over them so that the embossed image will stand out as the colour just washes over it and doesn’t stay.Watercolor resist cu wm.jpg The diecut flower was cut from a piece of paper coloured with the same inks pads and cut with a Sizzix die. The “Thanks” sentiment from Stamplorations was diecut from white card stock.

Well, I hope you liked my card and that it will inspire you to join in our challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More! Don’t forget to stop by my fellow teammates’ blogs to leave them some love too!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Addicted to Stamps and More, Cards, Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers

addicted to stampsHi all! Its Wednesday so another challenge starts over at Addicted to Stamps and more and this week, the theme is “Make Your Mark” so we want you to show us your amazing creations using your markers, pencils, watercolours… and anything else you have that makes a mark!Doctor's helpers markersI decided to use my Tri-Blend markers  from Spectrum Noir I got afew months ago, but never really even opened some of them. I love the idea of having coordinated colours all in one pen, but I’m not so confident in my colouring with markers, which is why I don’t use them so often. But I followed a tutorial on Skillshare by Julia Henze and I have to say I am quite happy with my result on my stamped images from Create a Smile called “Doctor’s Helpers”. The sentiment was handwritten in.Doctor's helpers cuThis has given me more confidence in colouring with my markers, so I bought a few digital images to colour in (I don’t know why now as I have soooo many stamps I could have used…).

Well I hope this has inspired you to start colouring and I look forward to seeing your wonderful creations over at Addicted to Stamps and More. Do pop over to see what amazing creations my fellow teammates have created just to inspire you to join in the fun!

Thanks for popping by and have a great day doing something you love!

Butterflies

Addicted to Stamps and More, Cards, spectrum noir aqua markers

challenge 360Hi all! Its Wednesday so another challenge starts over at Addicted to Stamps and More. For this week, we have a wonderful Photo inspiration above and I can’t wait to see what you do with it!August calendar productsFor me, it was a chance to use the butterfly stamp from Crafters Companion, for the first time, and it was also such a pleasure to get a little water-colouring done, as I haven’t had much time since I started working again, and I really missed it! Using stamps also saved me at least an hour as I always take such a long time to draw my images as I’m not very good at it. I did a little photo tutorial below so grab a cuppa, sit back and enjoy!tutorial1

I started by stamping the butterfly with Spectrum Noir water-proof ink on 300g watercolour paper

tutorial2I used the Prussian Blue Aqua marker and just added a short stroke from left to right beside the body of the butterfly, then used a water brush to bring the colour to the rest of the wing

tutorial3

I did the same on the other wing, being careful to leave some blank spots to fill in with my turquoise Aquatint brush from Spectrum Noir. This brush gives very vibrant colour.

I then added the black edges to my butterfly using my black Spectrum Noir Aqua marker

tutorial4

To add my flowery wreath, I first drew a circle around my butterfly and then stamped in the flowers using flower stamps from Hampton Art.

To get the water-colour look, I pressed the stamps into my water-reactive ink pads from Spectrum Noir, lightly sprayed water on them and stamped it around my butterfly. Easy Peasy!
