Wonderful Wednesday Colouring with Stamplorations

Cards, Stamplorations, wonderful wednesday coloring

Hi all, Its the 2nd Wednesday of the month so I’m guest designing for another Wonderful Wednesday colouring post over at Stamplorations where we show off share our colouring skills on the wonderful products from Stamplorations, to show you the many versatile ways they can been used.

Holly background

As usual, I made 3 different projects ranging from very easy to a little more complex using the stamps, dies and stencils from Stamplorations, and I’ll start with what I consider the easiest. For this card I first diecut it with the largest die from the Crazy double running stitch rectangle nesting die set of 3 dies BEFORE adding the paste so that it won’t flatten it after. I firmly placed the “Holly Background” stencil on watercolour paper and just spread some gold embossing paste over it. The paste is just some cheap paste I got at a local supermarket but it spreads and hardens really well. Once dry, I added the “Merry Christmas phrase” die onto a red card base and my card was done! Don’t you love how it shines!

The 2nd card uses the “Feathery” Stamp and I wanted to experiment with a new technique. I first stamped it in transparent gel before stamping it on my watercolour paper and let it dry and harden. This then creates a resist and wonderful texture when, you add watercolour. To create a more vibrant look, I used my Ecoline liquid watercolours. The sentiment, which comes from the “Fond Expressions 2” stamp set, was stamped with Versafine black ink. I cut the water-coloured panel with the same stitched rectangle die as above and matted it on a turquoise card base.

My third card was a little more complex to make as I used the “Stitched winter landscape” die along with 2 of the “Stitched snow hills” dies together and I wanted to colour them before they were separated into 3 diecuts. So what I did was to use the dies together and ran them through my Big Shot plus, making sure the edges of the dies did not extend out of the paper they were on, as shown above. I then proceeded to create my scene with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol markers. Once I was happy with the colouring, I diecut it with the same stitched rectangle die as for the 2 cards above.

I then splattered white acrylic paint over it and even brushed some paint over the “snowy hills” to make it more realistic. I used Nuvo crystal drops to create the snow on the top of the hills and the house. I just realised I forgot to colour the paper behind the house window, so now it just look like its a well! Any way I hope I still managed to create a peaceful scene to support the “Peace on Earth” sentiment diecut I used.

Addicted to Stamps and More – Make your Mark

Addicted to Stamps and More, Altenew, Cards, Prismacolor pencils

addicted to stamps

Hi all! Its Wednesday so another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More and this weeks theme is “Make Your Mark”. This is my favourite challenge theme as I love playing with my markers, watercolours and pencils.

Today I decided to make a card using my Prismacolor pencils as its been awhile since I’ve coloured anything with colour pencils. The colours were inspired by the challenge at Altenew and as it also contained black, I decided to use a black card stock as Prismacolor pencils stand out so well against a black background.

April 11 Altenew cu

I first diecut my black card stock using My Favorite Thing’s scallop rectangle die. I stamped the beautiful flowers from Altenew’s “Wild Hibiscus” stamp set in white using Color Box ink and then spent the next wonderful hour colouring in with my pencils. As its been awhile, I’m a little rusty so forgive me for some parts of the flowers that are not as well blended. One it was finished, I added little sprigs of flowers from Altenew’s Botanical Garden stamp set. I really love both these stamps sets!

Once they were all done, I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from Hero Arts with clear Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white Wow embossing powder. This panel was adhered onto a white card base with a thick cardboard behind it too give it some dimension. I then added white dots on the card using acrylic paint and nuvo drops. The clear drops are from my Goosebumps clear texture spray.

Well I do hope you like my card as much as I enjoyed making it for your viewing pleasure! Do pop over to the Addicted to Stamps and More challenge blog to see the other amazing creations my team mates have made to inspire you.

Have a great day!

The Sisterhood of Crafters – Spring Flowers

Card Challenge, Cards, The Sisterhood of Crafters, Watercolor

Hi all! I’m back again today to let you know we have a new challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters for the next fortnight and our Sistah Debbie has chosen a wonderful theme – Spring Flowers! If you’ve been having a long cold winter as we’ve had here in Germany, I’m sure, like me, you can’t wait for Spring to come and with it the beautiful spring flowers!

Altenew wc flowers.jpg

I went all out with the colours on my card as I can’t bear the grey here anymore! I even bought loads of bright coloured clothes of yellow and green and started wearing them to cheer myself up! This card was relatively easy to make as the “Fantasy floral” dies from Altenew take the guess out of how to colour them. Each flower is 3 tiered so I started by water-colouring one of the flower bases a dark pink, the middle layer a lighter pink and the final top layer a darker pink. The other flower was coloured the same way but I started with a light pink base. For the bottom flower I just used the top layer by itself.

The leaves were painted just light blue and I added dark blue to the tips and a few strokes on one leaf to add more detail. I used Winsor and Newton professional watercolours. The pink is called Opera Rose and I love the vibrancy of the colour as much as its name! I stamped the sentiment from Altenew as its going to be a Mother’s Day card for my mum. To finish, I added afew Nuvo drops.

Well I hope you liked my card and that you’ll pop over to The Sisterhood of Crafters blog and leave my other Sistahs some love. Thanks for stopping by and I love reading your comments, so I hope you’ll let me know what you think of my card, or anything else you have on your mind!

Have a great day!

Addicted to Stamps and More – Photo Inspiration

Addicted to Stamps and More, Card Challenge, Cards

Hi all! I’m back today to inspire you to make a card with the gorgeous inspiration photo we have at Addicted to Stamps and More. Isn’t all those blues so beautiful? I would love to have that dress and even more, have a place to wear it too! 🙂

stamping bella 0318.jpg

I was inspired by the ruffles on the dress and so decided to use my Stamping Bella’s sweet Tiny Townie Garden Girl Orchid stamp and add feathers to her dress using Scrap Perfect’s “Best Glue Ever” which dries clear.  I’ve been obsessed with using feathers on my cards ever since I saw TaeEun use them on one of her stamps from The Ton.

The sugar crystals on the blue glasses inspired me to use my Spectrum Noir sparkles pens to colour her in and you can see how it sparkles! The sentiment comes from Altenew’s “Beautiful Quotes” stamp set and every quote is really… beautiful! I added afew drops of Nuvo drops and the card was finished. Really quick and easy to make!

Well I hope you’ll be inspired to go create something now and I look forward to seeing your cards in the link up. Do go over to the Addicted to Stamps and More blog to see what my team mates have created just for your viewing pleasure!

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to reading your comments. They really do make my day!
