Thanks Mum, I turned out awesome!

Cards, Stamplorations, Zig clean color real brush

A very quick post to share a quick card I made which I intend to give to my daughter’s friends. I think this has to be one of the fastest card I’ve made, from the time I thought about how to make it to the photography of the card, it took me all of 30 minutes, and it would have been faster if I didn’t have to wait for the paint to dry!

Magnolia mother's day card cu.jpg

The card was inspired by the challenge at AAA Card challenge which has a “tic tac toe” theme and I went with “Gold, Watercolours and Flowers” but also blue and one layer. I first stamped the beautiful magnolia from Stamplorations stamp called French Marigold, with Versamark clear ink, added Wow gold embossing powder and heat embossed it. I then coloured the edges of the flower with blue Zig clean color real brush and blended it with my water pen. The sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp called “Mother’s Day Zingers and has really funny sentiments for kids to give to their mums.

Well thats all from me today, I hope you liked my card and your comments always make my day!

Creative with Stamps & More – Mother’s Day card & origins

Cards, Creative With Stamps, mothers day card, Watercolor

Hi all.  Its the 1st of the month so another challenge begins at Creative with Stamps and the theme this month is Mother as Mother’s Day in most parts of the world is on May 13th, except the UK where it was on the 11th of March. We have a generous sponsor MHK Designs who are giving away 3 products of your choice from their Etsy store so I hope to see many of your cards with the Mother theme in the link up!

I made my card using a Heart stencil from Stamplorations which I inked up with Spun Sugar distress oxide inks, and a stamp from Winnie and Walter called Big Hugs. I first stamped this cute image with Versafine black ink onto 300g watercolour paper and cut it with my Brother Scan and Cut. I then water coloured it, trying to give it a more “artsy” look! I really love the sentiment from Altenew Precious Moments set, which has very beautiful sentiments for parents and children. Unfortunately I stamped it crooked and unevenly…and I even used my Misti! I didn’t want to twice stamp it as I’m always afraid to smudge my  sentiments… The ribbon was a scrap in my drawer so unfortunately I don’t really know where it comes from.

05 Mothers day W&W cu.jpg

Do you know the origins of Mother’s Day? It started in the US in 1907 with the efforts of a devoted daughter, Anna M. Jarvis of Philadelphia. She did it to memorialise the work of her mother, Ann Jarvis, who started “Mother’s Work Days” to improve the sanitation and avert deaths from disease-bearing insects and seepage of polluted water. A few years later in 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating the second Sunday in May Mother’s Day, and within a few years, the idea gained worldwide prominence! Now isn’t that truly a labor of love from one mother to all mothers and the greatest show of love from a daughter for her mother! Well I hope this little history lesson inspires you to do something nice for your mothers on Mother’s Day and not just giving something nice… although I know if my kids remember the day at all I would be ecstatic! Lol!

Well I hope you liked my card and that you’ll be inspired to join in our challenge at Creative with Stamps with your beautiful cards honouring your mothers. Do pop over to my team mates blog and leave them some love as they inspire you with their wonderful creations!

Thanks for stopping by and your comments always make me so happy! Have a Great Day!

Mother’s Day is everyday

Cards, Die cuts, stamping

I made another card for Altenew’s Celebrating Parent Card Drive. I think its really great that they are sending cards to seniors who are in nursing homes or shelters so they can feel loved, celebrated, and honoured too. I hope my cards get to them in time cause I don’t know why, I thought Mother’s Day this year was on the 25th of May…which is actually Father’s Day here in Germany! Its hard to keep track when you’re a multinational family who’s lived in a few countries. Mother’s Day in Spain is today 7th May, its May 14th in Germany & Singapore, May 28th in France… so lets say Mother’s Day is everyday and our kids should spoil us all the time, who agrees? 😆

I wanted multi coloured flowers as I wanted to join in AAA Card challenge again and the theme is Bright and Beautiful. To get it so colourful, I first covered a whole page using a flower stamp and Versamagic dew drop inks to give it a chalky looking finish.  I used Garden Treasure set, but you can use any flower stamp to cover a page, just make sure to overlap and cover the whole paper with colour!

I then stamped the flowers and leaves from Altewnew Hennah Elements set and used the coordinating dies to die cut them and arranged them on the card. The sentiment comes from CASual Fridays Stamps and inside I will stamp Happy Mother’s Day.

So a quick post for a relatively quick and easy card but I hope you enjoyed looking at it as much as I did making it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Altenew Perennial Beauty

Cards, Heat embossing, stamping

All I want to do is make flower cards at the moment, can you blame me? With Spring in full spring, with buckets of rain to prove it, flowers are popping up everywhere, and even the week of snow didn’t stop them from covering the ground and bushes with gorgeous hues of pink, reds, purples, yellow…

Altenew hibiscus blue.jpg

I just got this stamp from Altenew and had to start using it straight away as I loved all the examples that was being shown on the Altenew blog. I also got some Altenew inks as I heard they work better with these stamp. I still have some work to do to learn how to stamp these properly as I still get blotchy results even after multiple stamping with my Misti. So if anyone has some tips I’m all ears!

Altenew hibiscus blue cu

This is a multiple layer stamp so I first stamped it with the lightest shade called Sea Glass, then Ocean Waves and finished with Dark. The stamen was stamped with Versamark and to make it pop from the blue I added Wow embossing powder called Taffetta Pink and heat embossed it. I love how its so sparkly and gives a really 3D look! I added the shadow below as I wanted to enter the challenge at “Less Is More” which theme was “Shadow”. The sentiment comes from Hero Arts.

This card is part of a collection I’m making to be sent to Altenew as they are still collecting card for their Celebrating Parents Card drive.

Thanks for stopping by and I always love to read your comments!
