The Sisterhood of Crafters – Winter scene

Cards, Prima Marketing watercolors, The Sisterhood of Crafters

Hi all, I’m back again for my last card, as a design team member for The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog, as I step down from this fabulous “sisterhood” of amazing crafters. Even though I really enjoyed being on the team, I would like to concentrate more on my paintings in 2019, and sadly have to cut back on my design team responsibilities. I would really like to thank Darlene and the whole team for being so kind as to let me be part of the team for the last 18 months. So my last card is dedicated to those wonderful women on the team!

Christmas scene products

It is also their last challenge for the year and the theme is “Create a Winter Scene”. I decided to bring out a rarely used die from “Creative Expressions” called Christmas Scene background. It consists of 5 different dies but I only used 2 of them to make my shaker card. I first die cut the border silhouette die and middle circle die on watercolour paper and gave them a coat of paint using Prima Marketing’s grey metallic watercolour. I added a clear acetate panel under this border and stamped the German sentiment on it, which just means “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”.  This was then adhered on top my pink water-coloured background with foam adhesive to raise it, enabling me to add the fake snow.

Well I hope you liked my card and is inspired to create a winter scene for our challenge. I look forward to visiting your projects in the link up over at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog. Have a great day!

Metallic card

I bought a stack of card stock from a craft show and although they looked good, once I had them it was quite difficult to use them. They had a shiny metallic like surface which made it hard to stamp on and the colours were beautiful but hard to use. The cards I have succeeded to make with them had most of it covered with design paper! So I am quite proud to have managed to make this card without too much smudging and not covering it with any paper at all!

I dry embossed it with my Sizzix large embossing folder and stencilled in a heart with Color Box white ink, while masking a circle for the text. I stamped the text with Versamark, sprinkled some Ranger’s gold embossing powder and heat embossed it. I love this range of sentiments that comes from Stamplorations Big Grins “Strong Women” text, you’ll be seeing me use a lot of these sentiments for more Mothers Day cards.

I then masked the rest of the card and sponged in some more white ink to bring out the text. This card is for my mum and it has a surprise in it but I can’t show it… cause its a surprise! But lets just say its “explosive”! 😉

Geeks rule the world!

Cards, Heat embossing, Stencil

When my son told me this joke (and explained it to me),  I just had to make a card with it as it was just so…CuTe! Yes I’m a mother of a geek, and proud to be, as one day he will rule the world! 😉 I dared him to give it to a girl…but at the moment I’m still the love of his life! 🙂

As Tellurium is silver and white (I had to look that up of course), I thought of ink embossing my Sizzix embossing folder with VersaMark ink on the flat side of the folder. I first masked the area where I was going to put my bird, then I ran my card though my Big Shot and added silver embossing powder on it before heating it with my heat gun. As the ink only went on the flat part of the folder, the raised dots did not get any ink, so I could get a silver and white effect on my card. I cut my “les Piafs” bird from a card stock I had previously painted with Heike Schafer Metal effect paint and stuck it on some foam adhesive to give it a raised look. The hand written text is also from the same card stock.

My kids gave me the thumbs up for this card and I hope you enjoyed it too! (I know of at least 1 member of my family who will find it funny!)
