Cards

Hi all! It’s the first of September so time for another challenge over at the Merry Little Christmas challenge blog where the theme is “Anything Goes” with any crafty medium! You can create a card, like I did, do a scrapbooking page, journalling, house deco…as long as it’s Christmas themed.

My card was made in a minute as I used pieces that I found while clearing out my craft room to make room for another desk for my daughter. At their age, all my teenage kids want to do is to go out and see their friends, so I have to make it more interesting for them to stay home! As I know she loves drawing and painting, I thought it would be nice if we could do it together.

So I recycled a desk that belonged to my eldest son, which I used for my 2nd son, and now it’s for my daughter, so this cheap Ikea desk is now 22 years old!! I wish it was a much nicer desk so that I could call it a family heirloom. It’s now in a corner of my craft room so we can craft together! (All the art supplies in her drawer are my surplus art material…)

Anyway, back to my card, as mentioned, I found pieces of it in my piles of paper and just had to stamp the sentiment from Crafters Companion, and my card was done! The 3D embossing folder I used to emboss a red card stock is also from Crafters Companion, but I can’t remember where the diecut is from. I painted it with metallic pens from Spectrum Noir and I wish you could see the shine!

Well I hope you were inspired by my card to create something for Christmas and I look forward to seeing it in the link up here. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day, doing something you love!

Hugs,

Cards, Merry Little Christmas challenge

MerryLittleC-challenge-blog-badgeHi all! Its the 1st of March already and its time for another challenge over at the Merry Little Christmas challenge blog. At this rate, it’ll be Christmas before you know it and you’ll be glad you started making your Christmas cards early! We’re an “Anything Goes” challenge which means you can make anything Christmas themed and share it with us.diecut wreath productsThis month I decided to make a wreath with diecuts from Crafters Companion Fireplace accessories pack and the sentiment from Crafters Companion Merry Christmas sentiment stamp pack which has loads of great Christmas greetings!diecut wreath markersI coloured my diecut pieces of wreath with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers before assembling them into a wreath onto my card, which was embossed with Darius snowflake embossing folder beforehand. I didn’t have any little pearls to put onto my wreath so I used Nuvo crystal drops to create them and once they hardened, I coloured them using my red Illustrator alcohol marker! To add the shine it lost after I coloured it, I used my Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen and brushed over it to restore its shine!diecut wreath insta2In this close up, you can also see that I shaded the edges of the circle with my red alcohol marker to add some interest. The sentiment was stamped with black Versamark ink. The bow was created from a set of ribbons I bought from a dollar store and I thought it matched my wreath colours very well!diecut wreath insta1Well, I hope I’ve inspired you to create something for our Christmas challenge. I look forward to seeing your wonderful creations! Do pop over to my teammates blogs to give them some love too.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day doing something you love!

Christmas bauble card

Cards, Merry Little Christmas challenge, Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers

MerryLittleC-challenge-blog-badgeHi all! I’m back today to share a Christmas shaker card I made for the Merry Little Christmas challenge blog. I’m really loving taking my time creating these cards and I hope you will too and share your lovely Christmassy creations with us!CC sparkly bauble die shaker card prodToday, I used this gorgeous diecut from Crafters Companion and made a shaker card with it. As its an intricate die, I made sure not to cut it from too thick a paper so that it would cut well. Once it was cut I heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. To colour in the baubles, I fussy cut some marker papers to the size of the baubles, stuck it behind the baubles and coloured them with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol markers.CC sparkly bauble die shaker card how toI then adhered a piece of acetate behind the diecut pane, placed some sequins onto the inside of the card and closed the front diecut panel with acetate onto it. So I didn’t add any foam tape to add depth, just regular adhesive strips.CC sparkly bauble die shaker card cuWell I hope you liked my card and that it inspired you to create something to share with us. All our challenges are “Anything Goes” so feel free to make any sort of home deco and not just a card.

I look forward to seeing your creations in the link-up here. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day doing something you love!

Christmas in July

A Blog named Hero, Cards, Hero Arts

xmas in july.jpgHi all, its the 15th of July and we’re celebrating “Christmas in July” over at A Blog Named Hero! I started seeing this theme around the cardmaking world but never knew why people had it so I decided to ask our challenge blog organiser Linda and she sent me this link. So people actually do celebrate it and here I thought it was just to start making cards for Christmas!Fairy window fancy die cuSo I decided to make a card with the literal interpretation of our theme and make a summery Christmas card! It won’t go to waste either as that’s how our Christmases are back home in Singapore, and in other parts of the world too, like Australia… or in Miami. I remember spending one Christmas there with a friend, and Christmas Day found us dancing on the beach in shorts! This was so strange for me as I had never even celebrated Christmas on the beach in Singapore.Fairy window fancy die productTo make my card, I used Hero Arts Fairy Window fancy die on a piece of cardstock which I had coloured using 2 green Hero Arts ink cubes with a touch of my red Zig clean color real brush for the flowers. I removed the fairy on my diecut, to have space for the Christmas tree, which comes from the Hero Arts Winter Time Fun stamp set. I fussy cut the tree and coloured it with the green from the same ink set and then added white Nuvo drops onto the top of the tree and Ivory Nuvo drops to the bottom to give the impression that the snow was melting in the heat!Fairy window fancy die mainI added this border frame diecut onto my card base which I had coloured with “Splash” Hero Arts reactive ink to resemble the sky. The sentiment comes from WPlus9 and I thought it was very appropriate! The inside of the card reads “Love and Joy”.

Well, I hope you liked my card and you’re now inspired to bring out your Hero Arts Christmas supplies and make a Christmas card for our challenge. I look forward to seeing your wonderful creations in the A Blog named Hero link-up. Thanks for stopping by and YOUR comments warm me and bring me joy!

Have a great day doing something you love!
