Creative with Stamps – Give Thanks + Brother Scan & Cut Video

Brother Scan and Cut, Cards, Creative With Stamps, Patty's Creations, Zig clean color real brush

Thanksgiving is approaching and so, for the month of November, our theme at Creative with Stamps will appropriately be “Thankful”. Do come and play with us with your cards for Thanksgiving, giving thanks or just showing appreciation for someone. This month we have 3 digi images from our sponsor Pattie’s Creations to give away too, so we look forward to seeing your creations over at the Creative with Stamps challenge blog.

Pattie's Creations

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Europe but we’ve been fortunate for the last 4 years, to be invited to American friends who are living in Germany, to share this special time with them. I also get to taste all the foods I’ve heard so much about, which is eaten during Thanksgiving! Yum!

So this year we have been invited again, and I made a card for them with one of the digi stamps, called Sweet Nectar, from Pattie’s Creations AND I used my new Brother Scan and Cut I just got to cut out the image. Yes, I cracked! Even though I have the Silhouette portrait and use it to create many designs for my Shadow Box Cards, it doesn’t scan and cut as simply as the Brother Scan and cut does. I made a video showing you how I cut this image using my new toy and you can find it at the end of my post.

As you can tell its a very intricate design but I managed to get my Brother’s scan and cut to cut everything around and in-between the flowers and hummingbird which is not coloured.  But first the basics of the making of the card. I printed my image on Clairefontaine 250g Multi-technique paper as I was going to colour my image with my Zigs and I know that paper works really well for blending with my Zig clean color real brushes. I cut it with my Brother scan and cut and very simply coloured it in with my Zigs.

To add it onto my card so that it dangles, I first cut my embossed card stock, which is part of a stock of embossed cards my dear friend Monika Reek gave me, and my card base together with a circle die cut, which I only partially cut through my Big Shot Plus so that only 3/4 of the circle was cut. I then finished the opening by cutting a straight line with a scissors, at the bottom of the circle.  I added adhesive tape behind my orange embossed panel and before I glued the embossed panel and the card stock together, I slid in the top of my hummingbird cutout in-between the two card panels and then pressed everything tightly together. That way the 2 card panels held only the top of my Hummingbird, allowing it to sway freely when you moved the card. I have a short video of it in motion here.

The sentiment comes from Stamplorations Fond Expressions stamp set and I added some paint splatters to link it with the colours in my Hummingbird image. I cut out the sentiment strip with craft scissors and adhered it onto my card and the card was finished!

I hope you liked the video and if you did, I would appreciate a thumbs up in YouTube and please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t done so already. I really enjoyed using my Brother Scan and Cut to create this card and I hope you like it too! Thanks for popping by and please head over to the Creative with Stamps blog and see the other DT’s beautiful cards and leave them some love too!
