Hero Arts Winter Time Fun slider card

a2z Scrapbooking, Card Challenge, Cards, Hero Arts

Hello all, its December already, the last month of 2018!! Is it just me or are the months just flying by faster than before? Time to go chop down our tree, put up those decorations and as the German tradition goes, bake cookies for the 4 Sundays of Advent, although mine never get that far, so I have to bake double this year! Its also the start of a new challenge over at a2z Scrapbooking blog where our last theme of the year is “Winter Wonderland”. So I hope to see your wintery cards over at our blog and you might just win the prize this month which is the Hero Arts Holiday Tags digital stamps!

Winter time slider card products.jpg

So for this challenge I decided to make a fun slider card with Hero Arts Winter Time Fun stamp set. I first created the background by sponging in Wilted Violet, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry & Mermaid lagoon distress inks and cut it with a rectangle die. For the snowy bit, I added white watercolour from the Prima Marketing metallic range so its nice and shiny! The snow hill was created using a white chalk marker. I then stamped all the little critters, the tree and the sleigh onto a white card stock and cut it with my Brother scan and cut. Next I coloured them with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol markers.

Winter time slider card cu.jpg

All I had to do now was to stick the little critters on the sleigh and assemble the slider part which I did by cutting a little rectangle on the card and adding a foam tape between my sleigh and a coin. To see a video of how I create slider card you can see this post here. I adhered the fox and the tree on the card, adding some Nuvo crystal drops to create snowlike effect in the tree. To finish I adhered this panel onto my card base with foam tape so that the coin would have space to move between the coloured panel and the card base.

Here’ s a video of my slider card in action! if you liked any of the Hero Arts stamps in my post, you can get it from a2z Scrapbooking store and if they’re sold out, you can custom order it! Make sure to use my code Gwendolyn15 to get a 15% discount on any of your orders $25 and above.

Well thanks for stopping by and I hope I inspired you to make a fun Winter card for our challenge over at a2z Scrapbooking. I look forward to seeing your cards there!

Have a great creative weekend!

Creative with Stamps – Terry on the Beach

Cards, Creative With Stamps, Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers

CWS#27_CuteAnimals

Hi all, its the 15th of the month and I’m back to remind you of our challenge going on at Creative with Stamps where the theme is “Cute Animal”. I hope you’ve joined in the challenge with an animal themed project, and if not you have until the 30th to join in, and who knows, maybe win a prize that I’m sponsoring this month!

Spectrum noir beach cu

Today I’m really excited to share this card with you as its the first time I’m creating a background scene with alcohol markers, namely my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I made a video to show you exactly how I did it and for the first time, its a video with me talking in real time and not a voice over! You can find it at the end of this post. I also used stamps from Wplus9’s “Flock Yeah” set, Flora & Fauna and Clearly Besotted’s “Cool Dude” as Terry the turtle couldn’t resist going to the beach while I’m slaving away here in Germany…

Spectrum noir beach products

I used Ultra Smooth Solar White Ninah card stock which I got online from Crafter’s Companion in the UK. You’ll learn all the techniques I used to create this scene here are the important ones.

  • Use the proper paper for markers
  • To cover streaks, go over it again with your marker
  • To avoid streaks, go over your darker colour with your lighter colour while the first colour is still wet.
  • If you don’t have exactly the right colour, put down the darkest colour on your acrylic block and pick it up with your lighter colour to create a smoother blend.

I have many more tips to share with you in the video, tips which you can apply with your Copics as well,  so I hope you’ll join Terry at the beach by clicking on the link below. I will list the colours I used at the end of the post.

Well I hope you’ll pop over to the Creative With Stamps challenge blog and see what the other ladies have created for your viewing pleasure. Have a great weekend!

Masculine Birthday card

Cards, Katzelkraft, Zig clean color real brush

I was invited at the last minute to have some cake at a really good friend of ours to celebrate his birthday, so I didn’t have much time to make a card. So I thought this would be a great opportunity to challenge myself to make it in 10 minutes, inspired by a challenge I can’t remember where now! LoL! Anyway I set my timer and started my card and as you will see, it is a really easy card to make.

Colourful bg.jpg

As I didn’t have any pre-cut card bases and I didn’t want to waste time cutting them, I just pulled out a cream Hero Arts already folded card and coloured it with Stampin’ Up inks and my roller.  I just rolled over the lightest coloured ink pad first and then rolled over my card. Easy Peasy! Tip – I wiped a little ink off my roller on wet wipes before rolling over the next ink pad. I flicked a little black ink on the background and stamped my sentiment from Technique Junkies with Versafine ink.

For the little birdie from KatzelKraft, I stamped it on a piece of Clairefontaine multi technique 250gm paper with Versafine black ink and cut it with my Brother scan and cut. I then coloured it with my Zig watercolour brushes and stuck it on the card. And that was it! How long did it take? I don’t know cause somehow my timer didn’t start! I know it wasn’t long though.

Well I hope you like my quick masculine card and I would love to know what you think of it!

I’m OWL Yours

Addicted to Stamps and More, Cards, My Favorite Things, Zig clean color real brush

HAPPY VALENTINE’s DAY!!! This will be the first of 2 posts today because I LOVE all of you faithful followers that take the time to stop by each time and I just want to shower you all with crafty goodness today!

So for my first post, I would like to share a card I made to entice you to join us at the Addicted to Stamps and More challenge, where this week’s theme is CAS – Clean and Simple. I kept it fairly clean and fairly simple, using the Abstract stencil and I’m Owl Yours stamp from My Favorite Things.

Feb MFT owl.jpg

I first sponged in distress oxide ink through my heart mask and while it was drying, I stamped the owl and 2 arrows on some card stock with Versafine black ink and ran it through my Brother’s scan and cut. I coloured the owl using my Zig clean color real brushes. As I needed a long arrow to pierce my stencilled heart, I cut the tip of one of the arrows and the end of the other and ran it through my Xyron sticker maker. I stuck the arrows onto the heart and placed my owl on top of it, making sure one of his little feet covered the joined part of the arrow so you couldn’t see the break. To finish I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set.

Feb MFT owl cu

When I showed the card to my 14yr old son, he asked me why there was an arrow and why the heart was in pieces. Well, I said the owl needed to sit on something and the heart was shattered by the arrow, but it was going to be mended by the person who gets the heart… and its part of the design and I told him not to analyse my card too much!!! LoL! I really had to think hard to explain the card! And it reminded me again that most people don’t really look at the work that goes into the design but at the whole card, and what it’s supposed to convey. Luckily my daughter, who got the card to give to her boyfriend, just found it really cute. Phew!

Well I hope you’ll pop over to the Addicted to Stamps and More challenge blog and admire the other CAS cards my team mates made just for your viewing pleasure. I hope to see your creation in the link up on the challenge blog.

Thanks for stopping by and I really love reading your comments!

My card will probably be disqualified for the race as I didn’t use three separate stamp sets, but I wanted to join in the fun anyway! I actually don’t even have 3 different stamp sets from MFT but I just ordered more, so next year I will be ready!
