Sizzix

I’m getting back in to my groove now, crafting almost everyday and blogging more often, and learning new techniques! Its been awhile since I’ve come across a new to me technique and I found this one over at The Flower Challenge blog, where this month’s theme is Paper Piecing. I’ve never heard of it and I still didn’t quite understand what it is so I hope what I did corresponds! It was also a good opportunity to use my stack of patterned paper which I NEVER use!

From what I understood, you just have to put patterned paper or paper you coloured, over part of your image…so I did just that. I first took a card base I prepared from an A3 card stock and die cut the front of the card base, by running it through my Big Shot Plus with Sizzix’s Floral Panel background die. I inlaid the die cut panel back onto the card base by gluing it onto the bottom part of the card base.

I then sprayed it with a soft pink glimmer spray, and while it was drying, I die cut a designer paper from Folio, using the same background die. As its a very detailed background die, I find using the Sizzix Brush and Foam pad essential for cleaning out all the small pieces of excess paper. You just put your die together with the die cut panel onto the foam pad and roll the brush over it and when you lift your die, the unwanted pieces stay on the foam!

I proceeded to fussy cut certain parts of the designer paper die cut panel, which I glued on top of the first panel. The whole panel was then glued onto a red card base and to finish, I added the Hugs die cut from Stamplorations.
