Black is the new… Black

Cards, Imagine Design Create, masculine cards, Shimmerz Paints, Stencil

Today’s cards are 2 of the cards I made yesterday after learning so many ways to create masculine cards from Altenew Academy’s “For the Guys” course. One of the inspiration cards in the course was a pop art card, which led me to think of making this card.

I  used my Shimmerz “Licorice Stick” Dazzlerz paste through the “Diamond Pattern” stencil from Imagine Design Create. I love this paste as its so creamy and smooth and so shiny once it dries!  The sentiment comes from Altenew and was heat embossed using gold Wow Embossing powder.

I had alot of paste still left on the negative part of my stencil and I didn’t want it to go to waste, so luckily I had watched the videos over at CAS Mix up challenge about Stencil monoprinting, and I just pressed another card over my stencil to pick up the leftover paste. I really like the mix media effect it gave to my card! For the sentiment, I used the leftover foil I had from yesterday’s post to give it a colourful shine! I first stamped the sentiment onto a black circle diecut, using iCut’s Transfer Gel, let it dry before running it through my laminator.

Isn’t that shine awesome? I even love the leather texture the paste gave to my card! These cards were so simple to make, which one do you prefer? Let me know in the comments below.

Well, I hope you have a great weekend and do lots of things that make you happy. I’m off to Munich for the day with my teenage son… to bring him shopping of all things…or rather he’s going clothes shopping with his friends while I hit the museums!

  6. Wow…such beautiful black and white geometric designs, Gwendolyn. I think I prefer the more artsy and textured 2nd card with the foil shine sentiment. But both are wonderful. TFS and joining us at CAS Mix Up. Isn’t this technique great for using all that ink or whatever mixed media product left on a stencil?!? Hugs…
