AECP – Easy die cutting techniques

Altenew Academy, Cards, Die cuts

I’m home! After one month away in Madrid at my in-laws, its soooo good to be home, even though it’s still hot and humid here and I’m being bitten to death by mosquitoes… but its so nice to hang out with my friends at the lake again, and have all my crafting tools around me!

I decided before summer that I was going to finish my Altenew Educator Certification program during summer, so I have 30 days to finish it, its not going to be easy as we have friends coming over in August and I’m away most September, but I do love a challenge! I also intend to go back on my detox diet & get regular exercise, so i’m kick starting my New Year resolutions after a little lapse.

As I missed my die-cutting machine while I was away, my first card I made back home uses afew of the die-cutting techniques as shown by Yana Smakula during the Altenew Academy Easy Die cutting Techniques course.  I’m not much of a die cutter, preferring one layer cards, so I learnt so much during this course; like embossing with a die!

On my card, you’ll see that I first embossed the white card stock with Altenew Spring Shower Cover die, before I added the Floral Shadow die which I had stamped with Altenew inks, using the matching stamps. I don’t have an embossin gmat so I just folded a a thin foam mat I have & experimented. It worked out well the first time so I will certainly use this method more often! The sentiment comes from the same set and was stamped with Versafine black ink. This card was also sooo easy to make and it took me less than 10 minutes to make it!

Well I hope you liked my card and that you’ll be cheering me on as I try to finish the required courses before the end of August! Have a great week everyone and see you back here tomorrow. Hugs,

  1. Thanks for playing along with us at Just Add Ink. Your twist to emboss with a die is a fun one that added lots of texture to your card. The colours & placement of your other elements is very balanced & too. Very pretty card.
