The Sisterhood of Crafters – Hot Air Balloon

Cards, CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, The Sisterhood of Crafters, Zig clean color real brush

Hi all, I’m here today to share a new challenge we’re having over at The Sisterhood of Crafters and for the next two weeks, our top sistah Darlene has chosen the theme “Something you might find in the SKY”. When I saw this theme, it was a no brainer for me and I reached straight for my hot air balloon stamp from CASual Fridays stamps “Floating” set.

As I was going to do no line water-colouring, I first stamped my balloon with Mustard seed distress ink on watercolour paper that I had previously cut with Stamplorations Crazy double running stitch, but never used. I wanted to create a soft watercolour look for the flowers but my Zigs clean color brushes are so vibrant that it came out stronger than I would have liked, but I’m still quite pleased with the results.

The sentiment tag comes from My Favorite Things blueprint 20 set which I found in my scrap box & the sentiment comes from the same CASual Fridays set and I think it would be great for a graduation card. I also love the thought that whimsy little flowers can float you up into the air and bring you to greater heights, there’s something feminine and powerful at the same time in that image for me.

Well I hope you liked my simple card and that you’ll pop over to “The Sisterhood of Crafters” blog and leave my “sistahs” some love.  Have a great day!

  1. I almost used this stamp for this challenge. It made me smile to see your card. 🙂 Doing no line watercoloring with such an intricate stamp is not easy. Kudos to you! Thank you for playing along with the Calling All Sistahs challenge. I hope you will join us again for a new challenge starting on the 18th.

  3. Such a very pretty card Gwendolyn! Those little flowers make a prefect hot air balloon and the gorgeous summery colours are beautiful. I don’t think they look too vibrant – they are just right. That tag for your sentiment was a lucky find in your bits box. Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Less is More xx

  4. Oh another stunning card! I know you say you don’t like the vibrant colours but I think it really adds punch to your card! It adds a kind of contrast to the arty feel of the colouring. This is some detailed and extremely good colouring. I love it Gwendolyn and so good to see you at Calling All Sistahs, we always love your visits x
