The Sisterhood of Crafters – CAS

Card Challenge, Cards, Stamplorations, The Sisterhood of Crafters

Hi All! Its time for another challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog and the theme this month, chosen by our Sistah Nancy, is a favourite of mine, Clean and Simple or CAS! Most of the cards I make are relatively clean looking without much layers, but they are rarely simple to make…at least for me anyway! I love a challenge of a new to me technique, so today’s card will be no different.

I wanted to try a technique called “Faux Enamel” which I first saw on Marcia’s beautiful card here. Unfortunately mine didn’t turn out as well, but I wanted to share it anyway. I still don’t really know where I went wrong but i must give it another go as I love the final result when done properly! All you do is pour loads of embossing powder, I used Wow embossing powder, on a piece of chipboard and melt it under a baking sheet. Once it melted and it was still warm, I pressed the die cut flower onto it so that it would stick and also have some molten powder bulge through to have a sort of 3D effect to the petals.

I also added some sparkly powders and hopefully you can see it sparkle here, but its really nice in real life. I used the Layered Flowers & Hugs dies and the Crazy double running stitched rectangle die from Stamplorations on my card today.

Well I do hope you’ll join in the fun and hop over to The Sisterhood of Crafters blog and leave some love to my sistahs there too! Thanks for stopping by and I would love to know what you think of my card.

  1. Your card is beautiful! I love how you did the Faux Enamel. Honestly, you are going to get a different look every time you do it so yours is wonderful. That flower die cut is gorgeous! Great card, Sis!
