Its our second Encouragement Challenge over at the Calling All Sistahs blog and we have this fabulous Inspiration pic to fire up your creativity!
The idea of these monthly Encouragement challenges, is to make a card for someone who might need a little lift because they are going through a rough time due to illness, a loss or just cause life’s getting them down.
Unfortunately this month I had to make a few Encouragement cards for friends due to losses in their family, but the card I am sharing today is for a friend who is going through a tough time adjusting to life as a full time stay at home mum. Like most of us expat wives here, she put her very interesting career on hold to support her husband’s career. And like many of us who have been defined by our jobs rather than who we are, she is now having to adjust to having all that time for herself and her family! It sounds fabulous I know, but after years of spending time for your work and raising a family at the same time, its quite hard not to feel depressed cause we feel “useless” now or feel guilty when we do things just for ourselves.
Even me, I love making cards but I started a company to sell my cards so that I could justify spending all that time making cards! Lol
So onto my card. When I saw our theme for this month’s challenge, I knew I wanted to make a paint splatter. So I first stamped the sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays “BE” set with Versamark, sprinkled Wow embossing powder over it and heat embossed it with my heat gun. I then took out my Zigs Clean Color real brushes and acrylic paints and had fun!
To create the splatter effects, I first squirted quite a lot of water with my water brush onto the water colour paper and added the paint or my Zigs to it. Theres a great video here if you want to see the method.
So I hope you’ll join in the fun over at Calling All Sistahs, and you might win a 25$ gift voucher to CAS-ual Fridays at the same time! If you want to know who won our very first challenge in May, click here.
Thanks for stopping by and I would love to know what you thought of my card!

Such a thoughtful card for your friend Gwendolyn. I love the simplicity of your card, and how added the colors and embossed the sentiment.
