This weekend was a really busy one…especially for my kids. On Saturday morning they participated in their first mud race and in the evening they had a taiko performance. It was cold and rainy on Saturday morning when we left the house, and I was so proud of them that they didn’t complain about having to get up early and go out into the cold to do the obstacle race in the mud! Luckily it stopped raining before the race started!
The first part of the obstacle race had them deep into the mud already! After that they participated in a taiko performance at their taiko school. It was a great night with wonderful, albeit, loud music!
My daughter is in black and my son in the red t-shirt. Taiko in Japanese means drums.
Sunday evening we celebrated a friend’s 50th birthday, and as she loves blue, I made a blue birthday card for her.
I tried a new technique called crayon resist for this one. I just wrote “celebrate’ in white crayon on the white card stock before spraying some water on it, added my brushos ink powders and watch the magic happen! While it was still wet, I used my distress paints and just randomly stamped here and there. I embossed the sides of another white card stock with the champagne embossing strip and assembled the three cards together.

I made another card for her as I couldn’t resist using this sentiment from Riley & Co.
I first stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and the wine glass. I masked the content of the glass and the bottom bit of the card, before I inked up the blue background with SU Pacific Point, spraying it with water and using my Brushos again ( I just love them!). I went over with my distress paints and Brushos again. I adhered it to a gold shiny card stock and cut off a slice to separate the card.
I’m playing along at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Mask it challenge, with this card.
Fabulous card Gwendolyn. I’ve been playing with my brushos lately. Great fun.
Thanks for entering my Monochrome challenge at CCM.

I haven’t tried crayon resit but I’ll have to have a go now. The colours on the background look almost 3D. Very lovely.

I’m sorry I didn’t see your card at the Riley spot earlier, but WOW! You certainly nailed this technique! I love the rich, vivid colors of the blue – green , it really makes your crayon resist pop with contrast!
This is one of my favorite Riley sayings, LOL!
NICE CARD! ♥

Love the richness of the blues on your projects. That sentiment on the second is perfect (seeing as how I just picked up my second pair of glasses!)
